Uninstalling Jot+ Notes 2.5.5 After Installing 3.0.x

Jot+ Notes 3.0 is designed to co-exist with earlier releases to make it easier to upgrade notefiles as required. At some point you will no longer that earlier release and will want to uninstall it, but there are some issues to be aware of:

The Problem

In general, Jot+ Notes 2.x and 3.x keep well out of each other's way, using separate configuration files, application folders, etc. It is when they interface with Windows that a conflict can arise, such as with file associations: Uninstalling one version of Jot+ Notes can remove file associations created by another version. Similar problems can occur with shortcuts.

It is worth clearly stating that user notefiles are not affected by this conflict issue.

Solutions

The simplest solution is to simply not uninstall Jot+ Notes 2.x, as it doesn't take up any significant space. Just delete any shortcuts to the older version and ignore it.

Alternatively, after uninstalling Jot+ Notes 2.x, re-install Jot+ Notes 3.0. This is a lot easier and safer than it sounds: The setup will remember your previous choices and your configuration will be untouched.
