Support for Other Operating Systems

Jot+ Notes is designed for Microsoft Windows. There have been many requests over the years for Jot+ Notes to be supported on other platforms. The development and support costs for additional platforms is quite high, which limits the number of platforms Jot+ Notes might be ported to.

But just because Jot+ Notes will not be available on your favorite platform does not mean you cannot share data with that platform.

Macintosh OS X

There are no current plans to support the Mac OS X operating system natively.

Mac users may want to look into running Jot+ Notes under Wine, as discussed in a separate FAQ.

Linux and Unix

There are no current plans to port Jot+ Notes to Linux, Solaris, or other Unix-type operating systems.

One option for Linux users is the commercial VMWare emulation software, which will allow you to run Windows under Linux.

Another Linux option is the open-source WINE emulator, which is discussed in detail in a separate FAQ.

Windows CE / PocketPC / Windows Mobile

The problem with this platform is that it is a moving target, so it is difficult to identify which version and hardware to support. The fact that this operating system's name has changed twice in as many years doesn't help...

PalmOS

As used in Palm devices as well as Sony and Handspring handhelds. There is a FAQ topic devoted to Palm.

EPOC/Symbian (Psion)

There are no current plans to support EPOC/Psion or Symbian devices.

Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, et al

Support for other flavors of Unix is difficult because of the development costs.

The WINE option mentioned under Linux may also support your preferred UNIX platform.

Important Note
